Earlier, the inspectors of 34 police stations in Cox’s Bazar district were transferred on Thursday. The information was given in a circular signed by Additional IGP Dr Md Moinur Rahman Chowdhury at the police headquarters on Wednesday.

The transferees have been asked to leave the old workplace by September 29 and attend a briefing on September 30. They were asked to be present at the police auditorium in Rajarbagh later that day.

The notification said that the police members have been transferred to the mentioned place in the public interest till further instructions with the consent of the Election Commission Secretariat. Earlier on September 16, Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police (SP) ABM Masud Hossain and six other senior officials were transferred.

Cox’s Bazar SP ABM Masud Hossain was accused of irresponsibility in the incident, though seven people, including OC Pradeep Kumar Das and sacked police inspector Liaquat Ali, were arrested after Major (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead by police in Cox’s Bazar. The court rejected the plea of Sinha’s family to name the SP in the murder case.
